ReSeeD User Guide

Terms

The following terms are used in this user guide.

  • work (dataset): This is the fundamental content entity in ReSeed. A work is represented in ReSeed by a metadata record, together with zero or more files. A work (dataset) can have one of the following statuses:
    • draft: When a work is first deposited, it automatically has draft status, and is not publicly available.
    • published: The depositor of a work can request that it be published, subject to approval. When a work is published, it becomes publicly available. It is also given a DOI (from Datacite)
    • archived: Instead of publishing a work, the depositor can request that it be archived. Archived works are kept in ReSeed but are not accessible to the public

About ReSeeD

RUB has developed the Research Data Management System (ReSeeD) as a service for RUB staff and their collaborators to manage, archive or publish research data. ReSeeD is available at this URL: https://rdms.rd.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/

ReSeeD takes care of your research data throughout the research process - it manages, archives and publishes your research data. Ruhr University Bochum has developed ReSeeD as a cental platform to support sustainable management of the research data in the interests of good scientific practice and the practice and the FAIR principles . The aim of ReSeeD is to offer a technical platform for the permanent storage, structuring and - if desired - publication of research data. To this end, ReSeeD will support the process of data structuring, make data easy to find, and support the sharing of data to promote re-use and thus provide a basis for sustainable research.
